Double Reef Beach
on the northwestern
coast of Guam

Double Reef Beach is one of my favorite beaches on northwestern coast of Guam. It is a small beach but it is very shady and cool, because of the many over hanging trees. It is a comfortable place for a picnic and a snorkeling in the surrounding area is fantastic.

When visiting Double Reef Beach by boat, it takes about 30 to 45 minutes from Hagatna Boat Basin. If you go there by a small boat like less than 18 ft, you can get all the way to the beach when it's high tide.

It's been a long time since I have been there. I hope the arch tree is still there by the beach.

I never forget how colorful the baby shrimp that I found living by near the rocks.I don't know how to describe… I wish I had taken a photo.

Double Reef was also one of my favorite places to practice skin diving when I first began my life on Guam. The day I could touch at the bottom of Double Reef was one of my proud memories. I felt like I became like a dolphin… :-)

Speaking of dolphins, this is also one of the Spinnerdolphins' favorite resting spots. I have seen many dolphins resting and playing here. If you are lucky, you can see them jumping and spinning in the air. I sometimes forget they are 100% wild animals, because they look so friendly when they are playing.

The outer reef that gives Double Reef its name is a good place to surf when the surf is up. But not recommended for beginner surfers according to RJ who is a very good surfer. Surfing here is best on a northwest swell.
