Did you go to 2016 FestPac Guam?
If you didn't, check my fanpage below. Total of 27 islands participated.
We had awesome 2 weeks.
If you don't know what is 2016 FestPac Guam, here is it a little bit about it.
FestPac refers to the Festival of the Pacific Arts.
The 12th Festival of Pacific Arts (FOPA) was held in Guam in 2016.
The Festival of the Pacific Arts is held every four years since 1972, and brings together artists and cultural practitioners from around the Pacific region for two weeks of festivity. It is recognized as a major regional cultural event, and is the largest gathering in which Pacific peoples unite to enhance their respect and appreciation of one another.
Well, I found about this festival this year, because Guam was a host island this year and I felt so lucky to be here on Guam, so I could experience this awesome event.
The 27 Pacific Island Countries and Territories participated at the festival are: American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Easter Island, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji Islands, French Polynesia, Guam (2016 Host), Hawaii, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Norfolk Island, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Wallis and Futuna.
There were so many arts that people can see and purchased at the main festival location (Hagatna, Chamorro Village).
Guam Museum had opened just in time to show lots of arts, pictures, movies, etc.
I had a chance to go into the indoor theater room to watch French Polynesia's Dance Performance and short movie that Guam People made to save Coconut Tree from Beatles and I watched Hawaiian Dancers's performance and some others at the outdoor theater. It was a good concept they built indoor and outdoor theater.
The MC that day announced that Guam Museum construction is not completed but was able to open up for the this event and will close after the event finishes and will finish rest of construction.
This museum was beautiful. I can't wait for them to reopen again.
Across from the Guam Museum, there is Chamorro Village where it was the event's main location.
This festival is 30 times bigger than the annual Island Fair. That was what I felt. LOL.
There was Floral Art Demonstrations during the festival at multiple locations. It was one of very nice demonstrations. I really enjoyed.
There were also so many beautiful hand craft arts as above. I wished I could buy them all.
